Welcome Friends!

We are the Wood family of 5, plus the dogs. Our family is happiest when we are together & outdoors! Our passion is to travel and hike, especially road tripping with our RV and to the national parks.

We believe that the best memories are made outside, and by getting off the roads and getting on the trail! We also think that the best time to go is NOW, not when the kids or grown or when we are retired. Our desire is to experience as much as we can with our kids and while we are able!

Our family has always been an outdoors family. Jeremy and I grew up in rural Missouri, camping and rodeoing. After our 3rd son was born, we knew that we wanted more than to live our entire lives only staying in one place. So in 2016, we took a leap of faith and moved to lower Alabama. Our family absolutely loved the area, the people, the culture, and especially the food! This time of our lives grew our desire to adventure, and made us realize how much more that our country has to offer.

“The best things in life are the people we love, the places we’ve been, and the memories we make along the way “

Our family has made multiple road trips to explore national parks and other destinations.  We have spent countless hours researching and planning, along with gaining valuable experience with our traveling and hiking adventures.

02

Our love for hiking! We have pushed ourselves and our boys to do some harder and longer trails, and we do this to see some of the most amazing sights that we would never see in person without getting off the roads!

Camping is the best adventure! Besides being on the road and traveling, we do just camp… like A LOT! We have recently gained experience of being campground hosts at a state park!

Why I Love What I Do

We desire to appreciate and explore our destinations to the fullest. I spend lots of time and research on the areas we are visiting. I don’t take any opportunity for granted, and make sure that we use our time and resources the best that we can. We do not like to stop at parks just to mark them off and snap a picture. Although I do know that it is not always an option, we try to make it to some ranger programs and hike at least one trail. Our boys have also earned their Jr. Ranger badges in several of the parks.

We discovered our love for hiking about 5 years ago. We first visited the Great Smoky Mountain National Park on our honeymoon in 2006! We did all of the touristy things, and drove through the park multiple times. We had a lot of fun, but we soon were tired of the traffic and the crowds. We did not go back until we had our boys and wanted to show them the mountains, starting with the smokies. We went on some shorter trails, not knowing how much our boys (or us) could handle. This made us realize that we could have a completely different experience if we got away from the traffic and crowds.
